I’m Wilfred Shagba, a seasoned Financial Services Professional with over 30 years of experience—10 in banking and 20 in hydro-electric power generation and distribution. My journey to Canada began during a visit to see my son, who was studying here. That trip led to an unexpected invitation from Canadian Immigration to contribute to the country’s economic growth. Though I was initially occupied, I honored the opportunity and, after a long application process, my family and I officially moved to Canada in January 2017.

My youngest son, who arrived as an international student at age 16, had already graduated and begun working by 2014. By the time we joined him, he was pursuing his MBA at the University of Manitoba and soon transitioned to Permanent Residency—an inspiring milestone for our family.

With a strong background in finance and a deep respect for knowledge, I immersed myself in research through Service Canada and Statistics Canada. What I discovered was clear: success in Canada demands hunger for knowledge and strategic financial planning. I also learned that the Insurance sector is the backbone of the financial industry, and that only a small percentage of retirees are financially secure.
